An Australian based manufacturer of waterproofing and paint protection products needed a telephony system that would support their business departments that are geographically located in different locations, they also wanted a system that would support them as they expanded into global markets.
The current telephone system was old and not suited to the long term business needs, working with Otilas a hosted Unified Communications System (UC) was implemented using Digium built on the Asterisk open source platform. The UC system is hosted in a secure Data Centre and utilizes SIP trunks to routes calls via their internet connection to various office locations rather than relying on older PSTN and ISDN technologies.
A Digium UC system was chosen as it provided the best features and capabilities that supported the business and integration with its core business applications. Being able to also use an iPhone to receive and make calls via the Digium system was also another huge deciding factor. This allowed complete control and management through the Digium system which management could also report on the number of calls its sales and customer service teams were taking to ensure KPI’s were meet.
Now they have a true UC system that enables them to be able to make and receive calls from anywhere in the world, using a combination of desk phones, soft phone clients, and their smartphone devices.
Management now have access to real-time reports that they can produce from the system at any time, and no matter where staff are based they can still use and access the Digium UC system.
